We booked 2 rooms for the night for my parents and my wife and 2 children,we had a cracking time! Friendly staff, good home cooked food and a pint of black sheep to die for? I really do not know what the other people have moaned and whinged about, if they want 5 star then pay for it down the road like some have bleated about. Yes there is some things that could help like a residents lounge with a couple of easy chairs round an open fire but hey can't have everything can we???? I will be booking this lovely place again! - 16 November 2011
We had read mixed reviews of the Rose and Crown, but we could not fault the excellent meal we had. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and served by a delightful Romanian waitress only in her 2nd day at work. She was such an asset to the hotel. Would eat there again. - 13 November 2011
If you want five star standards then stay at a five star hotel - there are plenty in the area! We were in Room 7 it was perfectly clean and I saw no signs of dirt anywhere in the hotel. Our room was spacious even with a travel cot in it and had a lovely view over the green. Having spoken to the other guests they all seemed content with the standards of the hotel and their rooms too. The dinner, bed and breakfast offer is fantastic value, the food we had was very good and there was masses of it (if you haven’t got a big appetite it’s definitely a good idea to skip the starter). Drinks are well priced and the public bar seemed really popular with locals. According to my husband the beer was well kept! The staff were friendly and helpful, we’ll definitely be back soon. One final tip for any families. Although there is only a terrace to sit on if the weather is nice on the other side of road on the green is a lovely playground. - 31 October 2011
