Hotel

The Rose and Crown is known as the Pride of Wensleydale because of its long history and reputation for serving the weary traveller. Dating from the 15th Century it still has many original features.

Today the hotel still overlooks the village with spectacular views in all directions. There is a large secure car park behind the hotel.

The reception has original oak panelling and there are historical artefacts on the walls, including the forester's horn.

There are 3 bars - the lounge, the Snug and the Dust and Diesel, all of which cater for both the visitor and the local inhabitants. The lounge bar has an open inglenook fireplace and is perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal. The Snug is more cosy and suits couples and small groups. The Dust and Diesel bar is an opportunity to meet the locals and enjoy a pint of cask ale.

All 3 bars serve food from a varied menu using local produce wherever possible.

The hotel has an excellent restaurant, the Dales Room, which is well known for its quality of food and service. It is perfect for that candlelit dinner, the special party or to celebrate an important occasion.

There are 11 bedrooms, all en-suite ranging from four-poster beds, double beds, twin rooms and single bedrooms. All have TV, hot drinks facilities and hairdryers.

Walkers are welcome as are their dogs and we are happy to look after your coats, hats, muddy boots and dog paws. Just ask for assistance when you arrive.

We trust you have enjoyed reading about this beautiful hotel and we look forward to seeing you in the near future. If there is anything further that you need to know please ring.

Note: pets are welcome and the hotel is open every day of the year.
